Project: Basement Finishing
Customer: Katrina G., Denver, CO
We recently finished our basement, it was originally painted cinder block and plaster walls/ceilings. Jarred helped us connect with an architect, walked us through the permitting process, and completed the construction. Communication was prompt and clear throughout the process. Scott was the GC and you could not ask for a kinder individual! The workmanship was beautiful and we finished a massive project (2 bedrooms, a bathroom, a new water heater, a new ductless system, and living spaces) in 12 weeks. We are so happy with our basement and will use J&P Services for future projects!

At the beginning of 2025 I decided to renovate my basement. My basement was “somewhat finished”…but was pretty old/raw. The basement has two bedrooms, a living room, laundry room and existing bathroom. There is also an un-finished area. The scope of the job was all minor demo, new windows (which included digging two new egress openings to help make the two rooms conforming bedrooms), upgraded electrical (including recessed lighting which did not exist), minor framing, new base/case, new doors, 100% renovated bathroom (including tiled throughout) which required some plumbing, building of entertainment center, new carpeting, some minor framing, re-casing of HVAC, drywall work and new paint. As part of the job, the J&P helped me create more “texture” and some wood storage space for my upstairs fireplace. The total job took about 3 months to complete. The total square footage of the basement is about 1,400 total.
Jarred and his Project Manager were very professional throughout the process (bidding through completion). Jarred had great communication throughout and I worked with one of his Project Manager who “ran point” day-to-day. The PM was great throughout too.
First thing I’d say is, that this is construction folks – there will be hiccups, time delays, cost overruns, etc. If you aren’t prepared for these items, you should consider the reality you may not have the stomach for renovations. That said, in my honest opinion Jarred and his team handled these all very-well. You should have contingency built-in for all of these items – and nothing was bad on this job. The team did their best to hit budget and cost bogies and they handled “hiccups” very well! I am very pleased with their workmanship and quality. I feel like construction is always a bit of a “dance”. It’s about working together and it can take some time to get into unison. We did this quickly and I enjoyed seeing all the team members most every day for 3 months. I was never concerned about the team being in my home alone as I trusted them.
Both Jarred and the PM answered their phones (calls and texts) when I needed them. This is huge for me – and likewise, I responded quickly to the items I needed to pick-out (fixtures, colors, tile, etc). That is part of what creates a successful project – both sides communicating well/swiftly to help with efficiency.
I will use Jarred and his team again – is a matter of fact, I already have a buddy talking through a project with J&P Services.
